The Gourmet Race is not just a nautical competition; it,s an event that fuses haute cuisine with the thrill of sailing. Teams participating in the regatta prepare gourmet dishes while navigating the coastline of Moraira, facing a challenge that combines culinary precision with mastery of the sea. The starting point will be the Club Náutico Moraira, and the race will last approximately 1 hour and 50 minutes.
The boats are divided into two categories: motor and sail, and must maintain a constant speed of 10 knots and 5 knots respectively, while their crews prepare their dishes. Once the race is over, participants will have only 5 minutes to plate and present their creations to a panel of judges made up of some of the region,s most prestigious chefs.
The jury for the XI edition of the Gourmet Race will consist of a select group of renowned chefs and experts from the gastronomic world, both nationally and internationally. These distinguished professionals will evaluate the participants culinary creations, applying their vast knowledge and experience in haute cuisine.
The President of the jury will be Mr. Alberto Ferruz, chef at BonAmb Restaurant in Jávea, accompanied by his head chef, Enmanuelle Baron.
This edition will pay tribute to Francisco López Canís and Fernando Jover from the Grupo Gourmets, who have been instrumental in the creation and evolution of this event.
The 2024 Gourmet Race will begin on October 4th with the official inauguration at the Upper Club of the Club Náutico Moraira, where participants will enjoy a welcome cocktail.
