What to see and do during the big week
Get to know the pure essence of Moraira, the big week of the small fishing village is approaching, if you visit Moraira from the 8th to the 24th of July it is important that you know the programme of festive events organised by the locals.
The festivities begin on Saturday 2nd July with the 18th edition of the Urban Mile in the Avenida de la Paz, which we are proud to have sponsored since its inception.
It continues on Friday 8th July with the XIII Tomato Growing Competition, the Festivities Proclamation and the Band Concert.
Saturday 9th July sees the presentation of the Moraira fiestas committee, with a parade, a swim to the Andragó and, at the end of the presentation, a performance by the Orquesta Mónaco.
On Sunday 10th July the most awaited Talent Show returns, Tu cara me suena Moraira by the Grup de Teatre Portitxolet in the Castle esplanade. Monday 11th July is the Murta, Cantada y Repica, a display of traditional dances which ends with a concert Cantà a la fresca by the La Senieta Choir. Tuesday 12th July is Children´s Day, with full activities and theatres for the little ones. On Wednesday 13th July there will be a sobaquillo dinner on the Castle esplanade and a retreta that will end with music and dancing in the Portet.
On the 14th of July there will be an Offering of Flowers, on Friday the 15th of July is the big day of the patron saint, the Virgen de los Desamparados, at 2.00 p.m. Gran Mascleta and at 9.00 p.m. Solemn Procession. The day will end with a Great Aquatic Pyrodigital Show and a performance by DJ Ausias Renú and the Titanic Orchestra on the Castle esplanade.
Saturday 16th July is the festivity in honour of the Virgen del Carmen, at 14.00 the Gran Traca Kilometrica along the Paseo del Senillar, followed by the traditional Palo enjabonado on the fishing quay. The solemn procession is scheduled at 20.30 in which we will accompany the Virgen del Carmen by land and sea.
On Sunday 17th July there will be a Giant Paella and Pop&Rock Night, on Tuesday 19th July the Bous a la Mar will begin until Saturday 23rd July when the Noche de Peñas will take place and on Sunday 24th July the fiestas will end with the Gran Cabalgata de Disfraces.
