Fallas Festival 2025 – Fire, Art and Tradition in Valencia

Fallas Valencia 2025 monuments and fireworks

The Fallas Festival 2025 is one of Spain,s most vibrant and emotional celebrations, held every March in the Valencian Community. Originating in the city of Valencia, it now lights up over 90 towns across the region — including Dénia, Gandía, and Xàtiva — from 15 to 19 March 2025.

Origins of the Fallas

Centuries ago, Valencian carpenters burned leftover wood on the eve of Saint Joseph´s Day (19 March). Over time, those simple bonfires evolved into impressive monuments called “Fallas,” made of wood and papier-mâché, often portraying satirical and humorous scenes about society, politics and culture.

A Festival of Fire, Art and Emotion

Each March, Valencia transforms into a city of art, music and fire. The festivities begin on 15 March with “La Plantà”, when hundreds of Fallas monuments must be completed. On 17 and 18 March, thousands of locals dressed in traditional costumes take part in the <stron´g>Flower Offering to the Virgin of the Desamparados, creating one of the most emotional and photogenic moments of the festival. Everything culminates on the night of 19 March with “La Cremà”, when all the monuments are set ablaze, symbolising renewal and the arrival of spring.

Visitors can also enjoy the daily mascletàs (daytime firework shows), spectacular night fireworks displays, lively parades and a delicious local treat — pumpkin fritters with hot chocolate.

UNESCO Heritage and Cultural Significance

Recognised by UNESCO in 2016 as Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity, the Fallas Festival represents the Valencian spirit — a vibrant mix of creativity, community and devotion that fascinates both locals and visitors from around the world.
